Fundraise for

Team Arch

Whether it’s running, cycling, baking, or quitting something, we would love for you to join #TeamArch and raise vital funds for our work

Our surgery provides some of the highest levels of healthcare in the country, as well as wraparound services which can make all the difference in supporting an Arch patient to stick with their treatment and access non-clinical services to support a stable and healthy life.

We are a not-for-profit GP surgery. Whilst our day-to-day work is funded by the NHS, funds raised by our supporters go into providing that extra level of care that our patients need. This can make all the difference to someone experiencing all the trauma and devastating health complications that come with periods of homelessness. This extra level of care can see Arch functioning effectively as a point of entry into “the system” – an address, an NHS number, a contact for referrals to non-clinical care, and also a trusted institution for someone to turn to, after they may have lost trust in that very system.

How would you like to fundraise for Arch’s vital work? We would love to welcome you onto Team Arch, providing fundraising, training and cheerleading support in return for your fundraising and of course your efforts to complete your chosen challenge!

All you need to do is contact us, or else visit our account on the fundraising platform, People’s Fundraising, and create your fundraising page.

Fundraising ideas

  • Join an event: Every year we welcome a team of runners and cyclists to #TeamArch at the Brighton Marathon Weekend. Run the marathon or the 10k, or else take on the scenic 50k bike ride.
  • Organise your own event: host a coffee morning, hold a collection in your block of flats or street, quit something for a month… contact us if you need any support or inspiration
  • Raise funds in memory: Fundraising in memory of a friend or loved one is a special way to celebrate their life, and honour their values, whilst making a difference to a local organisation doing important work for people facing hard times. We can support to you create an “in memory” page on our online fundraising platform, People’s Fundraising. All funds donated to our organisation via here, go straight to us, so there is no extra administration.

What have past fundraisers done?

Team Arch’s debut came in September 2021, with two incredible runners, Max and Anna, completing the Brighton Marathon for Arch!

Runner Anna commented, “It’s been hard work but an absolutely fantastic experience. Hearing the supporters cheer me on, and knowing I’m doing it for a great cause, really kept me going. I’d recommend it to anyone, and running for a good cause definitely gives you the drive to see it through in the tough moments.”

How your money helps

A donation to Arch Healthcare makes a huge difference in the life of a local person facing homelessness and housing insecurity. Homelessness is associated with complex healthcare challenges and very poor health outcomes. Conversely, a positive experience in healthcare can be the starting point for someone taking care of their health, and other aspects of their life – therefore early investment in healthcare can have a potentially huge effect on the health and wellbeing of some of the poorest, most vulnerable people in our city.

Part of the wraparound care Arch offers, involves in-reach into the local hospitals by our dedicated Pathway team. This team consists of a GP and an advocacy worker from Arch and a nurse from Sussex Community Foundation Trust (SCFT). In 2020-21 (the most recent year of reporting), this small team worked together to support over 330 patients experiencing homelessness who found themselves in the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The team provided vital support during these patients’ hospital stay, and also found them a place to recover safely in, when they were discharged.

Donations to Arch from our 2021 marathon runners and In Memory donations have raised funds for “patient dignity packs” as part of this hospital in-reach work, supporting patients to stay in hospital for the duration of their treatment. These contain toiletries, change of clothes, magazines, TV vouchers, all of which enable a patient with no resources to have a dignified, bearable hospital stay, getting appropriate treatment and engaging with our team, getting in place suitable accommodation and access to services upon discharge, so that they can finish up their recovery in a safe, supported, suitable environment.
