If you are unfit to work and are in receipt of benefits or need to start a claim for benefits you may require a ‘fit note’. Fit notes are sometimes referred to as sick notes, med certs or doctor’s notes.
It is ultimately up to an employer or the DWP to decide if you are unfit to work. A fit note from your doctor is strong evidence that you are sick or are unable to work and would normally be accepted.
For more information on benefits available to you please look at this page from Citizens Advice.
For your first fit note from Arch Healthcare you will need an appointment with a GP. At Arch Healthcare our standard fit notes are given for a period of 1-3 months, depending on your circumstances. We like to stay in touch with patients who receive fit notes to ensure that they are ok. As a general rule we will therefore ask that you speak to a GP before every other fit note is issued.
Fit notes can be printed, emailed or texted to you.
If you are off work ill you will not need a fit note unless you are off for more than 7 days
Please contact the surgery if you have any fit note requirements.
