A note from Gary Bishop, Arch CEO, about 3 live events in June 2022
NB June 2022. these events have now taken place. You can read a write up of the Homeless Health conference and access the presentation slides on the relevant pages of our website.
One of the things I’ve missed most over the last couple of years is getting together with like-minded people. Like so many of us, I’ve spent months working from home, contact has been restricted to video conferencing and the odd socially distanced encounter. It feels such a long time since we properly enjoyed the company of co-workers, partners and like-minded colleagues.
In 2018 and again 2019, just before Covid-19 announced itself to the world, we worked together with the Justlife Brighton & Hove Frontline Network to create a Homeless and Health Conference which was designed to equip people who work to support the health and well-being of people facing homelessness. The energy, camaraderie and connectivity of these days spoke deeply to all of us as we shared our ideas, passions and concerns together. We were reminded that we are part of something bigger and more significant than we often feel or notice in our day-to-day work.
After a two year break we’re preparing to host another conference in June 2022. This is going to be the best yet as we will run 3 events over two days (15 & 16 June). Please note, these are three separate events, each with different booking requirements.
- A showcase of the work of Brighton & Hove Common Ambition project. Wednesday June 15th, 1-4pm, Clarendon Centre. More details available soon. To attend: please email us if you are interested in attending so we can confirm your place (places are limited).
- A remembrance event to mark and honour the lives of people who have died whilst homeless in Brighton & Hove. Wednesday 15th June, 5-6pm, the Clarendon Centre. To attend: drop in. If you have a name of someone you would like us to acknowledge at the event, please fill out the online form, accessed via the event webpage.
- A conference day (16th June, 8.45am-5pm, the Clarendon Centre) packed with input from clinicians and specialists to resource our work and get us all thinking and planning for a better tomorrow. We’ll be covering subjects including mental health, physical health, substance misuse and many more. To attend: This is a free event, but booking is essential as numbers are limited. Book online now
I really hope you can come and bring your input to the days, it really is going to be a special time as we gather together, so put the date in your calendar and guard it fiercely. I look forward to seeing you there, at one or all the events.
