Online Homeless Health Tutorials

Online Homeless Health Tutorials

We run regular, free, online tutorials on various topics relating to homeless health which are designed to support anyone working with patients or clients who experience homelessness. We aim to build frontline workers’ knowledge about common conditions or health issues which may affect people who are homeless and help them to best support clients managing a physical or mental health condition.

If you’re a frontline worker supporting those experiencing homelessness, take a look at the tutorials we have planned below and book your place or email [email protected] to express interest in a particular date or make a suggestion for a future topic.

Next tutorial

Our next tutorial is on Thursday 24th April at 9.30am and will focus on Wound Care – exploring the nature of wounds, both acute and chronic, and approaches to healing. The session will look at barriers to wound healing, and specific challenges that people face in wound healing when experiencing homelessness. Please click here to book your free place.

This tutorial aims to equip frontline workers to support their clients, through:

  • early recognition
  • wound management
  • engagement
  • signposting to local services and support, in order to support clients and help prevent complications and deterioration.

Forthcoming tutorials

The following tutorial will take place on Thursday 26th June at 9.30am and will feature a presentation from Raymond McCullagh and Greg Coghlan, nurses in the Mental Health Homeless Team in Brighton. Their session will cover:

  • Serious mental illness,
  • Depot injections,
  • Dual diagnosis,
  • and the context in which they and their team operate.
